The Vintner’s Gallery offers two comfortable separate bedrooms, with a spacious lounge area looking out on the gardens. With its own kitchen and bathroom facilities it offers secluded private accommodation in a setting of great natural beauty.
Meals and access to the hosts’ excellent wine cellar are optional extras, as are arranged trips to the early French settlement of Akaroa Harbour, the beautiful bays of Banks Peninsula or elsewhere at the guests’ request.
Canterbury is one of New Zealand’s fastest-growing wine-producing regions. The majority of its vineyards are situated in Waipara, north of Christchurch, in West Melton to the east, and around the southern and western side of Banks Peninsula, extending over the Hilltop to Akaroa. All are within easy driving distance. In addition your hosts are establishing a vineyard on a nearby property. Although it is not yet in full production, visits can be arranged.
The Ridge Room looks out over the Marseilles-tiled roof to the high north-western ridge of the valley. It features a queen-sized bed and a second double sofa bed. This is a luxurious and spacious room.
The Gallery Room has a picture window which overlooks the high-arched sitting room below and leads the eye right down the valley to the west. The room has a warmth and intimacy.
The sitting room, like the rest of The Vintner’s Gallery, has a fine art collection. It catches the last of the summer sun as it sets beyond the gardens at the bottom of the valley.
Guests have their own fully-equipped kitchen, which can be stocked with any foods at their request.

The Vintner’s Gallery is an exclusive and intimate experience. It can accommodate from one to six people, but its greatest feature is its total privacy. Guests can be wholly self-sufficient (with everything supplied on request, of course) or they can be wined and dined by the hosts with the finest food and best wine. Accordingly, tariffs will vary but as a rule of thumb, the base cost will be around $300 a night for each double room including full breakfast supplies. Dinners with fine wine are also available at extra cost. We pride ourselves on exceptional cuisine. We are delighted to accept menus in advance at the guests’ preference if sufficient notice is given, subject always to the availability of the best fresh produce. |
